The move is in the job file; storage lives in a spreadsheet someone updates when they remember. Then come the questions that cost money: how many cubic metres are free, which bay holds that customer's container, since which month have we been invoicing them, who broke that seal.
Storage is recurring revenue, and recurring revenue leaks quietly: nobody notices an invoice that is never issued. byMovers treats it as what it is — a contract running month after month over a specific physical space — and ties it to the customer's job file.
Containers with dimensions, volume and seal
Each container is registered with its identification, its height, length and width and its volume, plus the location it sits in and a remarks field. And it carries a seal number, which in the custody of someone else's belongings is the difference between being able to prove no one opened a container and not being able to.

Locations are the map of your warehouse. You define them once, and from then on every container lives in one — which turns "find the Martínez container" into a query instead of a walk around the warehouse with a torch. Containers are registered per company and branch, so in multi-site facilities each site has its own.
From the job file to the container, with history
Storage does not appear out of nowhere: it almost always comes from a move. In byMovers the container is linked to the customer's job file, and the platform keeps the history of which containers have gone through each job. That answers the awkward question — "what are we storing for this customer, and since when?" — with a fact rather than a guess.
And from the other side: the list of storage customers tells you at a glance who has belongings in custody right now.
Recurring billing, in runs
This is where the module pays for itself. Storage is charged periodically, and byMovers prepares the billing runs and collections from each customer's containers. Generation runs when you ask for it, not automatically: that is deliberate, so you can review the run before it goes out. The invoice is built by the platform that already knows the container, the job and the customer, so nothing has to be typed again or cross-checked between two systems at month end.
Invoices comply with VERI*FACTU and TicketBAI, and export to CONTASOL, SAGE, A3, QuickBooks or Xero, like the rest of the company's billing.
Coming across from the spreadsheet
Nobody starts from scratch: the storage business already exists, spread between a spreadsheet and two people's memory. Frequently asked questions
Does it work for a storage business that does not do moves?
It works, but byMovers is designed for companies that do both: its advantage is that the container hangs off the same job file as the move. If the business is purely self-storage by units, software specific to that niche will probably fit better.
Can I see how much space is free?
Every container carries its dimensions and volume, and each one sits in a specific location. In other words: the figure for what each thing takes up is in the platform, not in somebody's memory.
How is storage invoiced each month?
Through the module's billing runs and collections, prepared from the containers linked to each customer. Generation runs on request, so you can review the run before issuing it. Invoices come out with VERI*FACTU and TicketBAI and export to your accounting software.
What happens when the customer collects their furniture?
The movement stays in the job's container history, so the traceability of what was stored, when and in which container is not lost when the contract closes.
